12 Month Prescribing

From 1 Feb some patients will be able to obtain 12 month prescriptions

YOU MAY BE ELIGIBLE IF:
* Your condition and medication have been stable for at least 6 months
* You do not require regular monitoring (blood pressure, blood tests etc)
* Your medication is appropriate for 12 month prescribing
* You agree to attend in person for annual review; no repeat requests

TO REQUEST A 12 MONTH PRESCRIPTION
* Book a routine appointment with your GP
* This does not guarantee a 12 month prescription, charges apply regardless
* Other health concerns must be booked into separate appointments; this appointment is specifically to discuss prescription length changes

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
* Your GP has a responsibility to the Medical Council of New Zealand to prescribe according to your best interests, which may differ from your preferences.  For many patients, 3 or 6 month prescriptions will remain the most appropriate option.
*No repeats may be requested for 12 month prescriptions; In person medication review is required.

WHATS NOT CHANGING
* Medications will continue to be dispensed 1-3 months at a time.  You will not collect 12 months of medication at once.
* Prescription length of opioids, stimulants or medications taken only as needed are not eligible for 12 month prescribing
